6/3/2010 - Up North Journal pro staffer Clint Turner is excited to announce a great fund raising cause for Benefit 4 Kids. It will be called The Clint Turner UNJ weight loss challenge with proceeds going to Benefit 4 Kids. There are four ways to donate. You can Pledge a dollar amount per pound of weight that Clint Turner looses or pledge a dollar amount per pound that you loose. You can just give a flat rate donation or purchase a 50/50 ticket for chance to win half of the 50/50 pot. Clint's goal is to raise $5000.00 dollars for Benefit 4 Kids. That is enough to take one sick kid on a hunt of a lifetime. For those of you who do not know what Benefit 4 Kids is here is a link to Benefit 4 Kids. http://www.b4k.org/Our%20Mission/mission.htm This Challenge will begin June 1st and go threw Aug 15th. Clint will be video taping his progress from start to finish. Up North Journal attends the Inaugural Tight Lines for Troops Event in
Manistee Michigan. Tight Lines for Troops organized 38 Great Lakes
Charter boats donating their time and equipment to take almost 160
Michigan Veterans on a fishing event, at no cost. Preference was given
to wounded veterans and even a Medal of Honor recipient attended the
event. An awards banquet and ceremony was held in the evening with
prizes going to the largest catch and the best single service team catch
was awarded the Governors' Cup accompanied by a letter from Michigan's
governor Granholm. A resounding success, plans are already being
discussed to increase the size of the event for next year in an attempt
to provide this experience to as many veterans as possible
